Instead of doing anything social tonight, I have taken to listening to records, writing songsaimlessly strumming chords, and reading old music articles (and also some on extinct apex predators, because they are all super bad ass) on the internet.
Anyhow, I forgot about this song until now.
I don’t really listen to much BSS anymore for whatever reason, but I still think this song is great.
As far as I know, it was only released on a bonus CD that came with pre-orders of Beehives, which I’ve always found weird, since it’s almost the quintessential Broken Social Scene tune. It has that lazy, this-was-obviously-the-product-of-a-jam feel, but the melodies are all tremendous, and it has all those requisite BSS parts, from the layers of instruments to the (some combination of) Feist/Amy Millan/Emily Haines harmonies that listlessly float above the coda. And, it weighs in at 7-and-a-half minutes, but manages to feel like a radio single.
