While I’d agree with your general sentiment about cell phone service providers, it’s Apple’s fault that this won’t result in much difference in pricing. From the article:
”Apple demands strict terms from phone companies carrying the iPhone, which limit the carriers’ ability to cut prices or differentiate their subscription plans significantly.”

Just like the rest of the shit they sell.

While I’m happy to see Rogers lose its stranglehold, let’s not get too excited about this. The telcos have long refused to actually compete against one another, and I can guarantee that Darren Entwistle, George Cope and Ted Rogers’ ghost have already sat down somewhere, drank some scotch and smoked a few Cubans while discussing how not to have a price war.
