So, you know stories like that one that’s been circulating on Facebook recently about the racist airline passenger or that one about Obama and his wife in the diner?

What the hell compels people to make those up? Like, honestly, what sort of personal validation do you get out of that? It’s not like they’re really pranks per se, so it’s not even the same as that.
